Glassnote Music has ended its distribution deal with Universal Music Group and on Friday (Nov. 16) announced a new strategic partnership with Kobalt Music's AWAL.
"It is truly a landmark day in the music industry and for the future of Glassnote as this progressive alliance and relationship with Kobalt becomes a reality," said Glassnote President and founder Daniel Glass in a statement. "For our artists, it's the same team and family they have always been a part of, with exciting new additions from a company on the cutting edge of music's future."

Since Glassnote was founded in 2007, the label has been hailed as one of the top independent label in music with a catalog that includes Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, CHVRCHES, Childish Gambino and more. With this new deal, it will now have the strength of AWAL's global marketing team behind it, along with radio promotion, digital and physical distribution and data analytics.
AWAL has a good number of successes to its credit as well, boosting profiles of independent artists, including Lauv, Rex Orange County, Tom Misch, R3HAB and Deadmau5.
