Spotify is advertising its 320 kbps bitrate as "high-quality sound" to Premium subscribers.
The streaming giant, who recently revealed their paid subscribers had reached 113 million, has advertised the 320 kbps bitrate, offered to paid Premium users, as high-quality. In contrast, Amazon Music HD's streaming service offers 850 kbps bitrate - double the quality in sound offered by Spotify.
Despite testing lossless audio for paid subscribers for additional cost, Spotify decided against the service, with services like Tidal and Qobuz already already offering high-quality audio for an excess cost.
Free users on desktop Spotify currently get a 160kbps bitrate, with mobile users getting just over half, at a bitrate of 96kbps.
The story behind Spotify is set to be explored in a new Netflix streaming series.
Last month, Spotify revealed it would launch its own awards show, logically titled The Spotify Awards, with the focus on Latin America's huge music market.
